Description Description Protection Districts include the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale districts that are defined by the Character Preservation (Barossa Valley) Act 2012 and Character Preservation (McLaren Vale) Act 2012. The Character Preservation Districts layer includes townships and rural living areas defined by these Acts. Usage This legislation will protect the unique heritage, culture and integrity of the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale districts by maintaining and preserving the rural amenity of the regions, maintaining the rural character and scenic vistas vital for tourism, making sure that future development supports and does not detract from the regions dominant land uses and encouraging development that is well designed.
