HAZARDS Fire - Management
Dataset Type Spatial
Description South Australian flora environmental assets are assessed for negative impacts from bushfire, resulting in a bushfire risk rating assigned to each flora asset and a decision on whether preventative risk treatment is required. This layer contains flora bushfire risk assessment features defined by the following CFS bushfire management planning areas: Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges, Fleurieu, Flinders, Mid North & Yorke, Kangaroo Island, Limestone Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Murray Mallee, Outback and Upper Eyre Peninsula.
Dataset Use For internal use only. The spatial representation and attributes of the risk assessment are intended to be used by fire and land managers for strategic bushfire planning in order to reduce bushfire risk to those assets that have been identified with preventative risk treatment.

Data Quality

Lineage Feature classes are produced from corporate datasets including the, Biological Database of South Australia and SDE environmental layers for: 1. EPBC native flora species listed as threatened under the EPBC Act 1999 2. State native flora species listed as threatened under the NPW Act 1972 Species point records were filtered based observations between 1998 to 2018. Points were then buffered 500m. Attributes are assigned through a first draft desktop assessment and then reviewed and amended by panels of ecology experts during regional workshops. The assessment is conducted by determining the consequence of a single summer bushfire impacting the assets distribution within the regional CFS bushfire management areas. The likelihood is the chance of the bushfire consuming the entire distribution of asset. The risk rating is a calculation following the National Emergency Risk Assessment Guidelines risk matrix by combining the likelihood and consequence levels. For further information on the risk assessment procedure and methodology please refer to the State Bushfire Coordination Committees approved `Standard for the identification and risk assessment of South Australian environmental assets from bushfire¿.
Completeness Feature classes and attributes are complete.
Positional Accuracy Spatial accuracy varies within the layer.
